What Is Ska?
Ska is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was a precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combines elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and blues. Many variations of the ska sound have surfaced over the years, but what always holds true is that it is fun, danceable music that is very accessible. There is nothing quite like a live ska show.
